The main components of the success of a ballroom-dancing couple
To shine on the dance floor in a beautiful,
mesmerizing dance is only given to some. To become a winner of international
competitions is not enough talent alone. It would be best if you devoted all
your time to dancing, training, and rehearsals. Behind each victory are hours
in the rehearsal room, mental stability, mutual understanding between partners,
and the support of coaches and family. Sofia Iudina, a champion in ballroom
dancing, decided to connect her life with dancing at a very young age, and now
she is a professional dancer and choreographer, a strong competitor in
international competitions, a teacher, and a great dancer with her style that
makes her stand out on the floor.
Dancer Sofia Iudina talks about dancing as an art. Indeed, when you look at the couples gliding across the dance floor, who perform movements with ease, charm, grace, and plasticity and give real emotions, it seems that this is real magic created by dancers. The dance couple's technique must be flawless. It is the technique that professionals hone for traditional competition performances. When the technique is already mastered, the style of the couple comes first. This is where the success of future champions lies. Finding your style and putting it into every dance is a challenge for professional athletes. Style includes the position of hands and feet, body movements in the rhythm of the music, individual expression of face and emotions, and charisma. All this creates a unique image of a dance couple, which becomes recognizable on the floor.
Ballroom dancing is a couple sport, so Sofia Iudina
believes that mutual understanding with a partner is the basis for achieving
high results. Partners should feel each other, trust each other, and be on the
same wavelength to create harmony on the floor. Pairwork is difficult both
during training and at competitions. You are responsible for both of you, so
trust helps to overcome all fears and entirely focus on the dance program. With
her partner Bohdan Dovhalov, dancer and choreographer Sofia Iudina has been
dancing since 2020. During this time, the couple has shown tremendous results -
championship at the Open to the World Dance Festival WDC Crystal Ball in St.
Petersburg, bronze places at the WDC AL Open World Championship in the Netherlands,
vice-championship at the New York Dance Festival, and in 2022 the dance couple
became champions in 10 dances at the United State National Ballroom Dance
Championships in Florida and champions at The American Open Dance Championships
in Texas.
Dancer and choreographer Sofia Iudina believes that
every dancer should understand what they want to achieve. It is necessary to
set a goal and achieve it. Goal setting, belief in one's strength, and
motivation are strong engines for a dancer's progress. "Believe in your
success and never give up!" - is the motto of the champion Sofia Iudina.
Ballroom dancing is a difficult sport, with sports injuries, fatigue, and
unsuccessful performances. It is necessary to have a strong character to cope
with all the difficulties and go to the parquet with the right attitude and
faith in victory. For a dancer to feel confident, it is necessary not only
physical preparation but also inner harmony and determination. Sofia Iudina
says that you need to look for inspiration to be filled with spiritual
strength, and you need support from the coaching staff and family - this will
always help in a difficult minute. It would also help if you had human
qualities. After all, sports ballroom dancing should give happiness, kindness,
harmony, and pleasure to the spectator and the dancer himself.
